KATHERINE GARRATT
Katherine Garratt is a contemporary figurative artist living and working in White Rock, BC. She creates works that explore universal themes of mythology and the pursuit of paradise. Inspired by myths and folklore from cultures around the world, Garratt’s work reimagines ancient narratives for the modern viewer. Through her intricate compositions and vibrant palette, she invites audiences to reflect on the enduring human connection to nature, spirituality, and the idea of a paradise. Garratt holds an Honours BFA in Visual Art from York University in Toronto, where she developed her skills in classical techniques and contemporary practices. Her classical art education at Thornton Hall, a private high school in Toronto, grounded her work in both technical precision and symbolic storytelling.
Garratt’s work has been featured in exhibitions in both Ontario and BC including The Founders Gallery and The IDA Gallery, York University, Toronto; Artemis Gallery, Deep Cove, North Vancouver; The Federation Gallery, Vancouver; and The Surrey Art Gallery; Surrey among others. In 2024, her solo exhibition The Golden Age at Nomad Gallery explored the global myth of paradise. In 2025, Garratt will present Our Mother Earth, a solo exhibition at Nomad Gallery that explores the universal archetype of Mother Earth. In her work, Garratt seeks to evoke a sense of wonder and connection, reminding us of the shared myths that unite humanity. She is represented by Nomad Gallery in White Rock, BC and many of her paintings are held in private collections.
